White paper - Arts et Métiers testimonial

Laurent Champaney, Managing Director, Arts et Métiers, is convinced: Faced with environmental challenges, engineers are key players in the transformation of our society.

Read his testimonial in our white paper: “Digital technology and sustainable development:shaping industry’s futur”.

With contributions from Frédéric Segonds, Faculty member at the LCPI product design and innovation laboratory, Arts et Métiers and Saskia Eckert, PhD student at the LCPI product design and innovation laboratory, Arts et Métiers.

Engineers are tasked with working according to specifications in order to meet a given need. In that regard, nothing’s changed. On the other hand, to meet the challenge of sustainable development, the criteria used to define specifications have become substantially more complex. Products today are expected to be recyclable, repairable and shared by several users — this is infinitely harder than designing a single-use object!
