First results of the 3DEXPERIENCE at CMI DEFENCE

KEONYS helped CMI Defence in the advising and implementation of the 3DEXPERIENCE. Focus on the already proved successful results in terms of productivity and change management.

CMI Defence, expert in the design,  development and the sale of turrets for armored vehicles, is particularly active in the fields of simulation, smart ammunition, maintenance and training. The major challenges faced by the company are related mainly to the delivery of military material in accordance with our client’s requirements and needs.

We required an extremely high-performance tool  and that would allow us to ensure our developments were done in a flexible way and in this context, obviously, the acquisition and roll-out of the 3DEXPERIENCE solution has allowed us to achieve our product strategy we had devised initially, explains Olivier Carlens, Deputy Group Chief Technology Officer, at Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie.



Change Management

The 3DEXPERIENCE proposes a unified model that allows all technical data linked to a development project to be managed through configuration and modification management applications. Throughout the development process, this allows us to grasp the complex nature of the changes and to optimize the products.

We were faced with many technical and data migration-related problems, this required major support in terms of user training and support, comments Alain Gaillard, International Services and Operations at KEONYS.

At present, we have observed that users truly view things from a perspective of thinking, creating, collaborating together. The next challenge will be linked to the growth in the pace of production must also be met. The 3DEXPERIENCE offers applications that allow virtual production methods and means to be defined, simulated and developed, which will allow CMI to control a far larger production flow.

Through this progress we are now able to practically manufacture and assemble one turret per day. In 2011, there were 40 people in the engineering department, in 2016, there were over 120 people ; in this context, obviously the structuring nature of the 3DEXPERIENCE has allowed us to integrate the different new employees more easily and more quickly, concludes Olivier Carlens.
