The 3DEXPERIENCE® is an “All In One” collaborative platform (Software as service, Platform as service, Infrastructure as service) providing access to Dassault Systèmes’ software solutions through a single interface that manages all of the company’s business processes in real time (Digital Continuity).

All stages of the product lifecycle: design, simulation, manufacturing, production planning and scheduling, are carried out and updated on the Cloud. Every company, regardless of industry sector and size, deals with confidential data, so it is necessary to have access to a secure Cloud infrastructure.

This is why 3 different Cloud offers are available: the 3DS Public Cloud, the 3DS Private Cloud and the 3DS Dedicated Cloud (hybrid solution). But what do these differences mean?

The 3DS Public Cloud

The public 3DS Cloud is an IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) infrastructure that is shared between different customers and hosted by Cloud operators certified by Dassault Systèmes. With regard to data location, customers who have opted for the public 3DS Cloud will have their data stored in servers at a location designated by Dassault Systèmes based on the location of the largest number of users. Applications and services will be accessible in a secure manner on public browsers. Authentication to access the platform is done in two steps using the 3DPassport service. The platform url is generated by Dassault Systèmes and ends with “3dexperience.3ds.com”. For IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) security of the platform, continuous monitoring and risk assessment of vulnerabilities complies with the ISO27001 security standard.

The 3DS Private Cloud

The 3DS Private Cloud, gives access to 3DEXPERIENCE® applications and services only via the company intranet which is connected to the cloud through a VPN (Virtual Private Network). Users of the platform will have to identify themselves via a 3DPassport service dedicated to the company. The url to access the platform is specific to the customer unlike companies that have opted for the 3DS Public Cloud. On the security side, if you go for an IaaS access to the platform, just like for the Public Cloud, the continuous monitoring and risk assessment is in accordance with ISO27001 security standards.

The 3DS Dedicated Cloud

The 3DS Dedicated Cloud is a cloud infrastructure specially set up for the customer. Data storage is located on the company’s premises. As far as the platform is concerned, all 3DEXPERIENCE® applications and services are securely accessible through the company network. Users will be able to identify themselves thanks to a dedicated 3DPassport service. The url to access the platform is left to the company’s choice, which can add its name if it wishes. The type of security of the IaaS infrastructure is to be defined with the company.

A secure network for all

As far as network security is concerned, whether the customer has opted for the public, private or dedicated 3DS cloud, the level of security remains the same. Communications are secured via an encrypted https connection.

The CLOUD platform is secure and meets the expected security standards.

IaaS, SaaS, PaaS…?

As mentioned above, these acronyms correspond to services using the Cloud for different types of management and storage. IaaS corresponds to an outsourced hardware infrastructure, but the data remains stored on the client’s servers.

The PaaS which is between IaaS and SaaS corresponds to an outsourced hardware infrastructure but also the outsourcing of the storage of certain elements such as databases, servers etc…

SaaS corresponds to a total outsourcing of the information system. It is what can be considered the “most advanced” version of Cloud computing. Therefore, Dassault Systèmes takes care of the installation, maintenance, configuration and operation of the platform. The customer only has to log in to access the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform.
