Awaited by many specialists in the field of additive manufacturing, the GDE (Generative Design Explorer) module is now included in version 2017X of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, available since November 18th, 2016.
Following the innovative 2016X version, accessible via the cloud, version 2017X aims to unify modeling, simulation and optimization in a single environment, in order to enable the designer to maximize the possibilities offered by additive manufacturing.
Until now, the world of design was disconnected from the world of 3D simulation.
Each field had its own specific tools, data and terminology. This resulted in inefficient communication, with files sent back and forth between various departments. Simulation tools are generally designed specifically for experts in the field and are, therefore, inaccessible for designers.

With the GDE module, we are entering the era of design-driven science, where modeling and simulation are merged.
