Immerse yourself in the field of additive manufacturing with the GDE (Generative Design Explorer) module, available as part of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform!

Awaited by many specialists in the field of additive manufacturing, the GDE (Generative Design Explorer) module is now included in version 2017X of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform, available since November 18th, 2016.

Following the innovative 2016X version, accessible via the cloud, version 2017X aims to unify modeling, simulation and optimization in a single environment, in order to enable the designer to maximize the possibilities offered by additive manufacturing.

Until now, the world of design was disconnected from the world of 3D simulation.

Each field had its own specific tools, data and terminology.  This resulted in inefficient communication, with files sent back and forth between various departments. Simulation tools are generally designed specifically for experts in the field and are, therefore, inaccessible for designers.

A module devoted to additive manufacturing

With the GDE module, we are entering the era of design-driven science, where modeling and simulation are merged.

What are the advantages?

  • An efficient engineering product, removing bottlenecks that generally make it expensive to explore parts to be optimized.
  • Intuitive operational flows for designers, with non-expert solutions.
  • Automatic generation of functional conceptual forms and detailed organic forms.
  • Smooth collaboration between designers, simulation and manufacturing engineers.

A tool adopted by major players.

With its innovativeness and functionality, the GDE module for additive manufacturing has already been adopted by major contractors.

The AIRBUS Group has chosen to extend use of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to its additive manufacturing programs by integrating the design, simulation and production phases (press release of June 9th, 2016).

The SAFRAN Group has also established a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes in the area of additive manufacturing (press release of June 18th, 2016 at the International Paris Air Show).
