3DEXPERIENCE 2017X: A module devoted to additive manufacturing
The GDE (Generative Design Explorer) module of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform is part of eagerly-awaited, innovative new releases in the area of additive manufacturing.
The module is designed to unify modeling, simulation and optimization in a single environment.
A tool adopted by major players
The AIRBUS Group has chosen to extend use of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform to its additive manufacturing programs by integrating the design, simulation and production phases (Dassault Systèmes press release of June 9th, 2016).
The SAFRAN Group has also established a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes in the area of additive manufacturing (press release of June 18th, 2016 – Dassault Systèmes at the International Paris Air Show).
This partnership is aimed at developing a comprehensive numerical solution in the area of additive manufacturing, from material design to the manufacturing process and testing of parts.
It all began with the NIAR (National Institute for Aviation Research), in collaboration with Wichita State University (WSU), which opened an innovation center in order to use new technologies, such as parts produced using additive manufacturing for aeronautical industry applications.
Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform was chosen to be part of the Innovation Campus at WSU (press release of July 23rd, 2015).
The 3DEXPERIENCE center aims to develop advanced products and create a new generation of materials and technologies:
- Development of new materials with the BIOVIA application;
- Simulation and optimization of materials, additive manufacturing processes and systems;
- Multi-Robotics Advanced Manufacturing (MRAM) with DELMIA’s multi-scale manufacturing;
- Full certification of the process and integration of various levels of complexity and scale (from the material at molecular scale to the product, and from specific manufacturing processes to a global production system).
In this context, Additive manufacturing is a relevant option.
Thanks to developments produced on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, at the scale of both materials and structures, the innovative and functional GDE module has already been adopted by major contractors for additive manufacturing.
The GDE module of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is an answer to these issues, which will be possible to model, simulate and optimize parts in the additive manufacturing area.
