TRAINING PROGRAM

FMD: VOLUME MESHING COMPONENT

This course will allow you to discover how to generate a 3D tetrahedral mesh using the transformation methods used to create new meshed models from an existing 2D or 3D mesh. You will learn to analyse the quality of the mesh obtained as well as view elements of the inner mesh.

Introduction:

• What is the solid mesh?

• User interface

• Overview of the commands and their respective icons

• Access the Advanced Meshing Tools workbench

Tetrahedron filler (based on a meshed closed volume and the GHS3D algorithm):

• What is tetrahedron filling?

• Global meshing parameters

• Description of the overall process of generating a tetrahedron filling

The Octree tetrahedron mesher:

• What is the Octree tetrahedron mesher?

• Global and local parameters

• The quality parameters taken into account during meshing

• Other parameters such as simplifying geometric details, the size of an internal mesh, etc.

Meshing by scanning (hexahedron and pentahedron) or meshing by extruding a 2D mesh (triangle or quadrangle) in a 3D volume:

• What is mesh sweeping?

• Generating a solid mesh using the sweep 3D

• Description of the overall process of generating a sweep mesh

Mesh transformation:

• Defining a transformation (translation, rotation and symmetry)

• Generating a volume mesh through translation

• Generating a volume mesh through rotation

Volume mesh ((hexahedron, pentahedron) by extruding a 2D mesh (triangle, quadrangle) through a geometric transformation:

• Defining the mesh by extrusion

• Extruding a 2D mesh through translation, rotation,

• symmetry, along a 3D curve

Mesh analysis tools:

• Element quality (Distortion, Jacobian)

• Cut section

FMS: SURFACE MESHING

This course will allow you to discover how to create an FE model for a complex surface part, and how to simplify the geometric data to optimise the meshing process.

You will also learn how to manage the surface and beam meshes, modify meshes and nodes, and to control their interface and quality.

• Introduction

• Advanced surface meshing

• Ocktree triangle surface meshing

• Mesh operations and transformations

• Mesh updating

• Mesh analysis tools

• Importing/exporting meshes

• Welding connections
