Collaboration at the heart of innovation

Start designing a glass in France, continue in China and adapt the tools to produce it in the United Arab Emirates? This is the challenge taken up by Arc thanks to the implementation of a collaborative work platform.

ARC International is a leading tableware group that has developed its know-how and technological innovations in more than 160 countries. ARC has subsidiaries in the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia.

Industrial challenge: multi-site collaboration

“We produce 4 million parts a day, with a very wide range of models and many tools. So we very quickly understood that we needed a data management system associated with our designs to be able to find and reuse them easily. We used both an internally developed tool and SmarTeam software to manage our CATIA documents. »

“All parts were designed in France, and the files were then sent to the subsidiaries for local production. The return trips were made by e-mail: copy files, corrections, validations. Anne Moyaux, CAD/CAM Manager ARC

By changing strategy and thus allowing production sites to design and adapt products (primarily French design), ARC’s goal was to reduce time to market and design as close as possible to customer needs. Therefore, ARC was looking for a solution so that information could flow efficiently between international collaborators.

“Multi-site collaboration is fundamental for us. Our subsidiaries will thus be more agile, creative and autonomous towards their customers”
Bruno ETTING – Director of Product Development and Research Programs at Arc International

Benefits

The ENOVIA solution allows the 4 production sites to work on a single shared database and thus work together on the design of parts and tools.

Thanks to the “search” function of the solution, employees avoid repeating what has already been done: an opportunity to produce at a lower cost.

Managing, harmonizing and strengthening multi-site collaboration has reduced product development time and product time-to-market.

“We chose the ENOVIA solution to easily integrate our designs into CATIA. The idea is to have a single entry door that synchronizes and manages all data. “Anne Moyaux, CAD/CAM Manager ARC
