HP 3D DESIGNJET PRINTERS

HP 3D PRINTER

The HP 3D Designjet printer is a revolutionary printing solution. It allows you to create ABS plastic prototypes combining accuracy, solidity and flexibility in your office. With this solution, you can reduce your prototyping costs and save time.

HP 3D Designjet is easy to use, intuitive and ideal for office environments. It is intended for all companies that manufacture components, assembly parts or finished products, in all industries. It will allow you to create as many prototypes as you wish, without production constraints.

The HP Designjet 3D printing solution is fully automatic: it consists of a printer, software, a plastic block (recyclable ABS) and an excess material removal system (cleaning device).

The printer is easy to install and use and provides consistent quality for perfect reproducibility from one printout to another or from one printer to another. Models created from ABS recyclable plastic on HP Designjet 3D printers faithfully reproduce your 3D designs, whatever their form or function.

Functional

  • The HP 3D Designjet printer can be used in a work environment. It has a small footprint, can be desk mounted (59 kg) and connected in the same way as a conventional printer (power outlet and access to the corporate network).
  • The printed parts are immediately functional and require no particular care in handling. Wearing gloves is unnecessary and no cooling period is needed.
  • The different parts of a product modelled in 3D (e.g. in CATIA) can be printed from .stl files, then assembled (mounted, glued, screwed, etc.)
  • Materials are available in 8 colours (ivory, black, red, olive green, nectarine, fluorescent yellow, blue, grey)

Reduce your production costs

The cost of printing is approximately 0.20 € per cm3 of material. Investment in this printer will generally pay for itself within twelve months (compared with the usual cost of manufacturing a prototype and for an average production of 4 to 6 prototypes a month).

Save time

The HP 3D Designjet printer eliminates delivery times and delays due to production errors.

Objects can be printed in a few minutes (depending on their size) and can be used immediately.

Innovative

HP 3D Designjet uses ABS plastic as the object modelling material.

This material and HP technology allow you to produce accurate, strong, durable and functional prototypes.

Printer operation

HP_3D_DesignJet_Keonys_3D_PrinterEach pass of the printhead puts down a layer 0.254mm thick, ensuring optimal results with the highest level of dimensional accuracy, near-molded plastic strength, and an effective time-to-model/cost ratio. Printer operation is intuitive and it can be left unattended, over the weekend for example, to make best use of development time schedules. Completed parts can be handled without gloves immediately after printing and require no post-curing.

Depending on print orientation, the printer may need to add supports for printing certain shapes. The software automatically and intelligently calculates and manages production of the supports, so minimising the amount of support material used, and thereby reducing the time and cost for printing and for support removal. Support material is removed from the printed object using the removal system.

ABS plastic

HP_3D_DesignJet_Keonys_ABS_PlasticThe models produced by this system are made from ABS plastics. ABS is a polyphase copolymer consisting of a styrene and acrylonitrile copolymer with butadiene nodules within the acrylonitrile/styrene matrix. The polybutadiene provides impact resistance and lends flexibility to the polystyrène-acrylonitrile. It can be easily reused with stoving and can be combined with other styrenics (PS, PSB, SAN). A fourth monomer (alpha-Methylstyrene) can be incorporated to improve its thermal performance. This is referred to as High Heat ABS.

ABS has very good heat resistance (between -40 °C and 80 °C). Its two-phase styrenic structure makes it opaque. Chemical resistance is similar to a SAN.
ABS is widely used to make housings in sectors such as home appliances, telephony, computer hardware, toys, etc., because of its dimensional stability, surface appearance and suitability for finishing.

Removal system

HP_3D_DesignJet_Keonys_Removal_SystemThe HP removal system removes the supports from a printed object. The support material is soluble and environmentally friendly. It drains through an outlet attached to the removal system. No manual intervention is required. Just place the printed object and supports into the removal system and the supports will be removed automatically. The prototype can then be taken out again.

Waste water from the system needs no treatment before draining into normal sewer systems(1). Wastage (models, bases and reels) are recyclable and collected through HP's "Take back" programme.
